Tillicum Village Salmon Bake and Native
Cultural Experience
5:30-10:30pm
Your evening begins with a 45 minute narrated cruise from the downtown Seattle waterfront to Tillicum Village on Blake Island. Upon arrival you will walk along a clam shell strewn path to the longhouse, where you will be greeted with an appetizer of steaming Clams in nectar. Inside the longhouse you will enjoy watching as Salmon for your dinner is roasted over an Alder-wood fire on Cedar stakes in the traditional Northwest Coast Indian style. As you finish your meal, the lights dim while the myth and magic come to life in the spellbinding performance of Dance on the Wind, featuring dances in the spirit of coastal tribes.
Return to the Fairmont having experienced a bit of Seattle history.
Blake Island is located 8 miles from Seattle's Central Waterfront. The island was named after Captain George Blake, commander of the US Coast Survey vessel in 1837. Blake Island State Park was an ancestral campground of the Suquamish and Duwamish Indian Tribes and is believed to be the birthplace of Chief Seattle. The island is densely wooded, has 5 miles of beaches, and the vegetation on the island includes native Northwest trees and shrubs. Wildlife on the island includes deer, chipmunks, otters, squirrels, mink and many types of birds.
Dress Code: Casual.
