MGI Distinctive Competencies

In addition to the normal accounting, consulting, tax and auditing functions expected of any firm MGI offers core skills or 'distinctive competencies' such as:

Knowledge of international business structures, including:

• Political protection planning
• Exchange control experience
• Hard and soft currency management
• Awareness of the advantages and disadvantages of strategic alliances and joint ventures

A knowledge of the possibilities of international tax planning and an awareness of:

• Corporate and individual tax legislation
• Intellectual property consideration
• Tax treaties
• Asset protection
• The ability to prepare financial feasibility studies
• The ability to provide local business support services, including:
• Setting up any infrastructure
• Provision of effective admin/secretarial services
• An intimate and practical knowledge of local conditions

We believe that access to these skills is a necessity for clients doing business globally but will be equally useful to clients operating locally. It is our aim to have these skills available in every MGI member firm's office and we are actively working towards this goal.
